Dublin Marathon 2013 – Session 40 & The Weekend Ahead

So last nights recovery run, went well.


And it looks like RunningAhead.Com have improve their maps…….or maybe its just me going mad!!

I got to the half point this time in 29 minutes and got back home at 56 mins, which means the second half was marginally quicker than my first half run. And i think this was because the second half of this run is mostly down hill, whilst the first half is well…..obviously, mostly up hill.

I have to say i found running in general hard going last night, i was very sore after the 14 miler the night before and there will be no rest tonight, as ive had to bring forward my Saturday run to , tonight. So its going to be another hard nights work!

My run tonight will be six miles again, but this time with 6*100m strides. So its a speed workout, although i cant imagine they will be very quick!! But i’ll give it a go any way.

I plan to use the same 100 stretch of bridge as per previous speed sessions and ive designed the six mile run , so that ive only a two mile run home afterwards. This means a four mile run to the sprints but hopefully that will help loosen me out a little

At the weekend im down for 16 miles with 12 at marathon pace. Which will be a good challenge and ive got a couple of other runners joining me for the first four before i take off and try and meet my target time of 1hr36mins for the 12 miles

Ive got a ready made course, its quite a tough one but i’m going to take it on any way, as ive not the time to design a new course to be honest……. But it will be good for me to push it, even if i am still quite tried i do get a nice, rare, lie in on Saturday so that  should help.

Any way back to work , i tell you I am really starting to feel the difference between being a 30-40 miles a week runner and being a 45-55 miles a week runner. It’s tough going, it’s resulting in things getting neglected but its also quite rewarding. I just have to make sure its all worth it on the day with a great PB………..fingers crossed.

The Event

September 1st i will be joining Paralympic gold medalist Richard Whitehead as he runs the full length Britain. He will be running through Preston on that day and I am planning on joining him for 20 miles or so as a local runner. So if you have a spare Dollar / Pound or Euro please chuck it this way
