Dublin marathon – Session 43 Reviewed

So last nights 8 mile at 08:30 pace went very well , as i got around in 1hr05mins57secs. Which works out at 08:15 mins per mile. Which is a bit quicker than i intended, buts its better that way around i guess and i didn’t go to fast out.

I found the course quite challenging and i remembered that previously i had been beaten in my attempts to get around this route at a certain pace. But as with Sunday, i ensured that i upped a gear on any inclines and i didn’t slack off at any point, as i didn’t want to leave myself with two much to do, with just a mile or so to go. Which has happened once or twice during this training program, so i am learning and improving all the time.

So tonight is another 8 mile run, this time with 5*800 sprints or what is called a V02 Max Work out.

According to the Runners World Pace calculator :

http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/general/rws-training-pace-calculator/1676.html

My VO2 Max pace is 6:16 min/mile and i should be doing 800 meters 3.13

And here is a Wiki on the subject :

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VO2_max

it terms of route, this is what Ive got planned for my 800s :

And this is the 8 mile run, most of which i will cover before i start the 800s

I’m not going to set myself any pace goal for the 8 miles run, although i will time it.

Will i be able to do each 800 in 3.13…….im not sure. Its been quite sometime since i did 800 repeats and Ive not done any since this training program began. In between each 800 im supposed to do have a bit of jog and then take on the next one. So it will be quite a demanding workout and in some ways im not looking forward to it, but as ever, in other ways I am looking forward to it.

In other news Kevin Carr is struggling to remember which country he is in as he attempts to run across the world:

A few donations have come in, for my charity run, which is great and I’m edging ever closer to my target of £100. Keep it coming in!!

The Event

September 1st i will be joining Paralympic gold medalist Richard Whitehead as he runs the full length Britain. He will be running through Preston on that day and I am planning on joining him for 20 miles or so as a local runner. So if you have a spare Dollar / Pound or Euro please chuck it this way
