Im back!!!!!

im-back

As the heading suggests, im back from my travels!! And don’t tell the other half but im sooo looking forward to getting back out and running, because i missed it!!

Whilst i was away i did my best to maintain some level of fitness with swimming, sit ups, planks and other such things which can be done without having an affect on the holiday time. As partners and such, do miss out on your time for the vast majority of the year, its only right that every now and then they get put first.

So this how what little i did, worked out

Week 1

Tuesday 20 laps in the pool est distance 320 metres (Hotel 1)
70 sit-ups
20 seconds *2 Planks
25 Press ups
Stretches

Wednesday 30 laps in the pool est distance 480 metres (Hotel 1)
100 sit-ups
20 seconds *2 Planks
50 Press ups

60 seconds *2 Planks
50 Press ups
Stretches

Week 2

Tuesday 40 laps in the pool est distance 640 metres (Hotel 2)
110 sit-ups
60 seconds *2 Planks
50 Press ups
Stretches

Thursday 40 laps in the pool est distance 640 metres (Hotel 2)
110 sit-ups
60 seconds *2 Planks
50 Press ups
Stretches

Friday 30 laps in the pool est distance 480 metres (Hotel 2)
110 sit-ups
60 seconds *2 Planks
50 Press ups
Stretches

Saturday 40 laps in the pool est distance 640 metres (Hotel 2)
110 sit-ups
60 seconds *2 Planks
50 Press ups
Stretches

I should mention that the majority of the time the pool laps were done in sets of twenty’s but im fairly pleased and when i get back running i hoping to find out i haven’t lost too much fitness.

So back to the running, this is what im scheduled to do this week :

Monday – Rest or Cross train – Very much resting!!!

Tuesday – 8 miles with 5*600 metres @ 5k pace

Wednesday – 11 Miles

Thursday – Rest or Cross Train

Friday – Recovery 4 miles + 6*100 m strides

Saturday – 8 – 15 k @ Race Pace

Sunday – 17 Miles

Going off the Runners World article i posted some weeks back, im going to drop a mile of each of these sessions except the 17 miler to easy myself back into things. Although with two speed sessions this week, its going to be tough going.

In other news i read both the “Cant Swim, Cant Ride, Cant Run” And “Running with the Kenyans” books during my holiday and i will be doing a review of each of these and added them to my literature reviews page ASAP but with only 3 hours sleep in me, having been traveling back from the far east since Sunday, i don’t think i will be getting that done today…….

In summary both are excellent reads!!

I am really looking forward to running again and with just 5 weeks to go!! Things are going to hot up not. No more mystery routes, no more easing off on the hills and when i can get to park run, its very much going to be race tactics tuning , I need to brush up on my pacing people down, my calculating the time distance between myself and runners ahead of me, over taking people and sprint finishes.

Hard work!! But then it has been for the past few months! I must get some new trainers too. Having run over 600 miles in my current pair, its time they were replaced!!
